Samsung has been looking into why the Galaxy Note 7 can’t keep a battery happy for the past couple of months. Of course, through the first month, the company did so with a goal in mind: to get the phone back on sale.
But now that it’s pulling every unit it can from customers’ hands and governments have started asking questions about why this is happening, it seems that South Korea has taken things into its own hands.
The state-owned Korea Testing Laboratory began its investigation of five Note 7 explosions this week. Samsung is cooperating with the lab by providing the affect units, all of which went up in smoke this month. X-ray and tomographic analysis will be used to determine the cause of the fires.
Samsung’s mobile chief apologized for the debacle this week and is just as “frustrated” as everyone else about not being able to find a point of origin for these explosions. The hope is that the company or the government discloses it before Samsung decides to release a new flagship.
